Rainy Blues...

Just taking five to drop a note as its been a couple of days since I wrote something. I have been keeping myself very busy over the last few days. Despite being off work I have filled this Easter Week with lots of different activities.

The Easter Monday was a gorgeous day weather wise. We drove to Harewood House to see my fella's parents with the little man. The sun was shining and the sky was blue, and despite a little mardiness from the young one, we had a nice time. We called in at the local pub on the way home, and I chilled with a glass of vino whilst my fella played some football with the little one. He is such a comic. He made friends with a little girl and you can just tell he's going to be a ladies man when he gets older - and he's only six now!

Tuesday was a day for visiting, and we went to see my Grandma and my little cousins delivering Easter Eggs. I went out on a run and managed my mile long route just stopping once. I really need to try and build it up. I was going to go now, but its throwing it down. Whilst I know its silly, I wonder if I can just be a sunshine runner?!

Today we've had the guy round to fix the Aerial on the house - having said that there would need to be an aerial for him to fix for that - it appears that the previous owners of the house must have taken that away with them! However, £125 and two hours and we're sorted with a signal on the TVs up and down stairs - hooray!

Been over the road for a sarnie with a long term friend and her new little boy this lunch time - My fella was very much loving the cuddles from the little one. It was making me all broody again. I kind of feel I'm getting to that age now. I always wanted children by the time I was 30, and in an ideal world I want to be married before I have children. If I'm 27 now and I'd need to save for a wedding for a couple of years, my calculations say I need a proposal now! Me and my fella have discussed this before and we both want children. He knows about my ideal timescales. He knows about my ideals of marriage before babies. But he's already got a son, and its clearly on my mind a little more than his! Well, we'll see how that one goes. I don't want to push it, as more than anything I want him to ask me when he really wants to, and not because he thinks I expect it. I'm sooooo impatient for it though because more than anything I want to get married to my man and start a family.

He doesn't read my blog - if he did I don't think I'd be so honest about that! In fact I don't really know if anyone reads it, but regardless whether they do or not, it is a good place for me to reflect and record my thoughts!

Anyway. Curry & a Pint Night tonight, me and the boyf are heading off out shortly, so I will love you and leave you and I will drop a line shortly.

with love and a sprinkling of hope,

Easter at home

I am very excited as I have all this week off work! Me and the fella are spending some lovely time together, so I am very much looking forward to some chilling out with the man I love.

Been getting on with my running ok. Been three times this week, and looking to build it up to four this coming week. Got myself some new running shoes and the fab nike+ system that allows you ipod to track your training progress through a very clever little sensor in your shoes. It's really help motivate me. Being rather competitive I find myself competing against myself to better my progress, so its ideal! Did just over a mile yesterday, and going to work on that again this week to build it up to two.

We did an Easter Egg hunt for the little man today, and I was soooooo proud of him because he read all of the clues himself - he did so well at sounding out the letters and reading the sentences. He was also extremely excited that Easter Bunny had gone to the trouble of hiding all his eggs - it was fab! I was really proud of him and whilst he is my fella's son and not mine, I do love his little heart to bits!

On a last note, I just wanted to add the reason for the choice of photo today... When I was younger I used to have a recurring dream that I would get blown away in the wind, and when I spotted this photo, it really reminded me of the dream. I wonder what the dream means - I am sure someone soemwhere could tell me. Maybe some escapist meaning, or something about feeling powerless... dunno, but interesting none the less.

Getting off for now, but I will fill you in on my week off in due course!

Nighty night!

Tuesday... and counting down...

Hi, well I think the exam went well. It was one of those exams where you really haven't got time to revise everything you know you should, so you just focus on what you hope will be some of the main topics that come up in the questions. A dangerous strategy, as I have often found that my mind must work in a different way to the chief examiners who make the question choices!

Anyway, on this occasion my previous attempts at guessing the key topics must have paid off as each of the key topics I spent time looking at came up! What a fluke! I had to answer five out of eight questions in the three and a quarter hour exam, and I managed four and a half all of which I feel I answered in enough detail to get a decent mark, so hopefully I have passed. I find out in about five months (I really don't understand why it takes that long to mark, but hey ho!)

In my post exam wisdom yesterday I kind of decided to try and take up running and do a half marathon in September. I know - I very brash decision for the non fit! However I have recently quit the cigs, and I used to be fairly athletic - all be it I hold a few more pounds than in my athletic and netballing days!

Anyway, I have found a training website and have had a training plan drawn up and it appears feasible that a beginner with no fitness can train up to half marathon standard in four months, I may need to see it to believe it, but I'm willing to give it a go!

I do feel as though I need new trainers and a good running outfit (ha ha - any excuse to shop!), but I am really keen on doing this. I've applied for a place supporting my employees charity for the year, so I think if I get the place, it must be fate.

I do feel it would make my late Grandad very proud, so its definitely worth the try.

I'll keep you posted - off for my first training session now.

Exam time...

Apologies for not checking in yesterday - I was busy studying for my degree exam. All kicks of this afternoon and I really don't feel well prepared! Not long to go - if I pass this only two more exams then I will have finished - hooray!

During a revision break I found some stunning artwork & photography on weheartit.com - thought I would share in case anyone stumbles across the page - some great inspiration for the week!

Catch you later... LMW x

Hooray for the weekend!

LMW says... hooray for the weekend! I'm so happy it has arrived! Whilst I have lots of revision to do for the dreaded exam, no more work for three days and not long until my week off over the Easter Break. I am very much looking forward to it!

Just tanned myself up ready for a night out with the girls tomorrow night. Not quite dry, so thought i'd post a message while I let the air fix my soon to be St Tropez bronzed body!

Loving the photo here that i found on weheartit.com - reminds me of days in the sunshine - I am fascinated by how light can be used in pitctures. The content reminds me all too much of how much I enjoyed my cigarettes in the sunshine. I've been off the cigarettes since NYE 08 and very much encouraging myself not to start back up - I know the test will be in the sunshine in a summary dress, with a glass of vino - thats when I will be tested!

Until then, I shall just enjoy the picture and not worry about the implication of my love for it!

Getting off now - going to spend some time with my fella before its time for bed. Been up since half five this morning and had a twelve and a half hour day at work, so feel I should be tired by now!

Night all, sweet dreams, LMW xxx

Carried Away

As promised I am back again. I managed to get everything done by 5.30pm - an achievement as I didn't expect to be done with all my work until late tonight.

I thought I'd share a few pics with you of what has caught my eye today.

These first photos are a collage from weheartit.com exhibiting the work of the very talented photographer Rodney Smith.

I love the way his photos are both modern in content, but have a classical, almost vintage feel from the formal attire of the models.
I also found the picture below - in fact I found this one first and it made me go on to explore more of his work. The photo below caught my eye with its fantastic 'tea party for one' connotation. I love it!

I am loving this new found world I seem to have stumbled across. Don't get me wrong, I'm not 'web shy', and I have used the Internet for years now - a well established user of social networking sites, search engines, eBay and online Fashion shopping. However, I feel that since I have set up this blog, I have opened myself up to the vastness of the technological ocean that is the entire Internet.

In flitting from site to site to review other blogs for inspiration and to find people similar to myself I have come to realise the true vastness of what is out there.
It has been a great opportunity to explore some of my interests of art that since my Art A-Level have fizzled out due to time constraint and a dumbing down of my senses. I put it down to the dull office environment in which I work.
Never more have I been keener to brighten my work life up - if I am there for over 9 hours a day I should definitely attempt to make it more enjoyable to the senses! I will have a think about how I can bring a little bit of some of these wonderful images into my daily work routine.
So here's just a taster of some of the inspiration I'd like to take with me...

How lovely?! Now I just need to work out how I can integrate all this with the less so inspiring workplace... mmm, I'll have a think!

Night for now, LMW xxx

All work & no play!

Working from home today whilst the garage collect my car for its service. Handy as it saves me a 100 mile round trip to the office! Really must be a quick post as I have loads to do!

I was looking at weheartit.com today (I love that site... some fantastic daily inspiration) and I found this picture. It made me giggle as for any of us hardworking people out there it epitomises day to day life.

Sad but true. Breaking away from the routine is a must!

Will post again later tonight.

Distracted!

My attention span seems to be reducing with age. When I was younger I had no problem sitting focusing on my work for hours at a time. Now... well, as you can see I am not achieving what I need to be!

I am studying for a degree at present outside of work, and have today off as a study day in preparation for a module exam next week. Whilst I have got some study done, here I am distracted, wanting to tell you about it, rather than actually get on with it!

In light of the current issues I face with getting distracted by not only my new Blog, but also my clothes, shoes, & magazines, (and life in general!) I thought the picture was quite reflective of my current mindset!

The Joys of Spring

The first day of April and the sun is shining. I've got that familiar feeling for the first time this year that Spring is here.

This is my favourite time of the year. I love the Spring blossom on the trees on the roads that lead to my house... the pinks and whites against the blue hues of the sky are stunning and give me that warm feeling that soon it will be summer.

This picture reminds me of a place I used to visit when I was a little girl. I have some lovely memories of playing amongst the trees in and out of their shadows, the summer sun beating down.

Not long to go now... I just hope we get a Summer this year in England!

Some more of the joys of Spring...

I have a smile on my face today...
